We first developed a digital presence for Terraqua many years ago in a very early version of the WordPrress. content management system of CMS. After a handful of years the site was updated to reflect changes in the Bioengineering services and products offered to customers.
With the growth of the business the site expanded to include a diverse range of new products and related services. As the site grew it started to become a little confusing as more and more menus were required to showcase the growing product portfolio. The site also started to slow as the size of images and documents continued to grow. In the 5 years since launch WordPress had continued to offer new, more powerful features with enhanced functionality.
The decisions was taken to relaunch the site with a cleaner look and a more focused perspective and develop it in the more recent WordPrerss version with the latest CMS tools and to focus on performance.
The new site was delivered to the customer on time and on budget.
Clean and fresh
The website features a clean home page with a single image with white text on image for the menus.
The Contact page is also designed to be simple and user friendly with simple clear graphics.
Menus
The menu system integrates into the site with a focus on the core components of the business and makes use of a floating structure as the viewer scrolls.

News items and case studies are highlighted in the Blog section. These show case successful Bioengineering projects.
Performance
The site load time has fallen from a rather slow 15 seconds to 0.8 seconds. That’s about 20 times faster. Site speed is a significant component of the Google search algorithm and this significant increase will impact the SEO results for the site as a whole.
This graph shows the load speed of the old site in December at between 5 and 20 seconds compared to sub 1 seconds for the new site.
The seconds chart shows the load size reducing from 4Mb to less than 450Kb or around a 90% reduction. This reflects building with the latest tools and the use of advanced Caching systems and good fast servers.
