PC Sales continue to slow as consumers increasingly user mobile devices

Latest research from Gartner and IDC show the PC market continues to shrink. Last quarter total PC sales totalled 61.1 million units a drop of 4.3%.  This compares to 67.9m and 63.9m in the preceding quarters.

The bright spot is HP that has now become the number 1 PC vendor overtaking Lenovo. HP grew 3.3% to 12.7 million units while Lenovo slumped 8.4% to 12.2 million units.

The trend for more cloud based solution, such as SharePoint, continues to drive the adoption of cloud computing removing then need for the classic Windows PC.

The latest Apple iPad Pro show the power of the tablet, permitting more and more consumers and professionals to ditch their Windows Laptop.

Apple PC sales dipped from 4.3 to 4.2 million. The latest Mac book Pro refresh should rebalance this trend.
